Chinese Martial Art classes in Ireland's West and North West
We are currently offering two types of classes: Kung Fu (Choy Li Fut) and Tai Chi Chuan (traditional Yang style).
Kung Fu classes are divided in childrens classes (age 5-15) and adults classes (16+). Our style of Kung Fu is called Choy Li Fut, the roots of which go back directly to the Shaolin Temple in China. Emphasis is on good stance, posture, strength, flexibility, long fist techniques and animal forms. Besides learning a strong system of self defence, students will also work on fitness, respect, team building, discipline and Chinese culture. Tai Chi Chuan is classed as an 'internal' style of self defence. It is practised worldwide by people of all ages and cultures, for good health, co-ordination, flexibility and as a martial art. The style practised at our school is called Yang style traditional Tai Chi Chuan. Beginners start by learning an 8-step form, and can progress to the more extended hand forms as well as weapon forms. In a typical class setup, students will learn general exercises for energy cultivation (Qi Gong), form-training and partner exercises (push-hands, applications). The emphasis is always on correct use of body and energy.
